Cool Christmas Gifts for Him – Dad or Boyfriend

We all know how hard it can be to find a cool Christmas gift for dad or your boyfriend – We try our best and we want it to be fun AND caring!

Does he like Japanese Samurais?

Does he need some Motivation or Inspiration? Maybe some Anti Motivational poster…hahahahaha

Did your dad do sports at his college or university? Maybe a reminder from the old days would be cool!

Wanna give a little hint on a vacation? A travel poster might be it!!

Here is an article from Jennifer on how she goes about finding her gifts.

By Jennifer Noll

Cool Christmas gifts have always been hard for me to find this time of year. I want to make sure to get my kids the best Christmas gifts this season. Every Christmas, I spend hours on the Internet trying to find the best gifts around. If you are a mother and wife, you know exactly where I am coming from. As you begin your search for the coolest gifts this holiday season, I want to share with you some ways I find the gifts to buy my family every year.

I go out to the local toy store or out to Wal-Mart and look around at the different things available this Christmas. I always ask the employees what the hottest and coolest gifts are for this holiday season. The Wal-Mart employees are not always that helpful, but at the toy store, they always know what the in things are that year. They can tell you what to get and what not to buy.

Another great resource on the internet is to check out the news articles on foxnews.com. They seem to always be in touch with the latest trends when it comes to the holiday season. Check and see what the Associated Press is writing about. They always write about the hottest gifts and trends of the season. You can get a great idea of what to look for from these sites.

In my opinion, the best way to find the cool Christmas gifts is to go on websites that feature the top Christmas gifts of the season. The designers of these websites are specialists that are constantly keeping up with the latest trends throughout the holiday season. The creators of these sites are experts in recognizing what your son or daughter or husband is going to want this year. They spend hours trolling around forums and Christmas sites looking for the best gifts available on the Internet. I encourage you to take a look around at these sites to make an educated decision on the best Christmas gifts. These websites have already done all of the work for you. You do not have to waste hours looking for the hottest products as they have already done all of the work for you!

I recently just found an awesome website that features Top 10 lists for the 2009 Christmas season. They include Top 10 lists on all of the best Christmas gifts this season. Check out these sites to get a feel for what’s hot this year!

———

Did you get any ideas?
I hope so!
As I said earlier: Travel posters, University Poster, Oriental Japanese Samurai prints, Motivational and Inspirational sayings can be great stocking stuffers this year and you can get them online!
Merry Christmas and have a wonderful holiday!

Vintage Ad Posters Taking The Place Of Paintings As Wall Art

Vintage Ad Posters Taking The Place Of Paintings As Wall Art

Vintage advertising posters have been seen on walls where fine art used to hang.
This is quite a turn for posters churned out on newsprint to last a few colorful weeks on a wall or Paris kiosk to promote an event or product. As the first modern mass advertising medium, which had its heyday from the 1880s through the 1950s, the ones that survived are striking, with strong graphics aimed at delivering a punch to passers-by.

Outdoor wall art

“The great thing about posters is that they are accidental art,” said Nicholas Lowry, president of Swann Galleries. “They’re not made to be saved. It’s meant to be advertising, to be rained on, torn down or plastered over. That’s the beauty of it.”
“It’s beautiful graphic design and social history at the same time,” added Gail Chisholm, who runs Chisholm Gallery in New York. “Prices have gone up enough that I should have just stayed a collector.”
It’s the uncommon advertising posters from Art Nouveau (1890-1914) and Art Deco (1925-1940s) periods that have made huge leaps in worth over the last 10 years.

The highest price ever paid for a vintage poster was $250,000 designed by French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The poster sold at Poster Auction in New York in 1999.
Lautrec’s painting, “L’Abandon ou les deux amies,” sold for $8.5 million. Artists like him also produced fine lithographic prints in limited editions for the art market.

“The artistic talent expressed in his prints is the same as that expressed in his poster design work. So posters are a relative bargain,” said Louis Bixenman, director of the International Vintage Poster Fair in New York.

Collectors usually specialize in categories including Art Nouveau, with its writhing plant forms and maidens with flowing hair; and Art Deco, with stylish, geometric graphics.
We have reproductions of early 20th century posters by Leonetto Cappiello, whose work advertised Campari, Cinzano and other products. We also have reproductions of posters by Jules Cheret,. His original posters cost $8,000 to $10,000.

Movie posters are a separate class, with even higher record prices fueled by the fan base of a celebrity rather than the art design itself.

While the originals can be found -although at high prices- the reproductions are taking over more of the market for the everyday person. They love the image, the vibrant colors, the scenery the message that the posters give, they don’t care if it is an original or not!

Here is where the reproductions come in for all of us who can’t afford the “real deal” and are more interested in the art and the look then the antique value. You can call it cheap wall art or fine art posters, reproductions are making its way into more and more peoples homes as an affordable and easy way of decorating.

In our ArtCantHurtU store we have thousands of prints available that range from $5.95 for the smallest 12? x 18? to $15.97 for our biggest 23? x 35? size. That is cheap compared to a lot of other stores!

We sell reproductions of vintage Travel Posters, Sports posters, Japanese woodcuts, Religious prints, Astrology prints, Original wall art, Theatrical posters, Movie poster, Circus prints, French Art Nouveau …and so much more.

  • Monetizing Past Clients
Some freelance designers are of the opinion that the 80:20 rule applies to a freelancer’s business. They reckon that 20% of our income comes from 80% of our clients and 80% of our income comes from 20% of clients. I happen to agree with this, for the most part.
