Abstract Wall Decor is Not just for Contemporary Settings

Posted by: jan  :  Category: Art Prints, Home Decor Articles

Wall decor for the home is becoming an increasingly popular idea for the home owner who wants to add some life to a room. Unfortunately not all of us can afford to spend hundreds, thousands, or sometimes millions of dollars to add that lift to our homes.

That is where art prints can provide an economical means of accomplishing just what you need. When looking at art prints don’t first decide what style of home you have. Some people’s furnishing can lean toward the traditional, but an abstract piece of artwork is just what they are looking for to liven up a room.

Abstract wall decor can be more than just splashes or streams of colors on a canvas. In fact abstract art is represented with several different techniques not only limited to the ones mentioned previously.

Many times a piece of artwork can be in the category of abstract, but in fact it lends itself more to fantasy. There are thousands of types of abstract wall decor that appear to be a collection of flowers, but when looking at them closer it can be seen that they are actually large splotches of color.

In fact many homes today are more transitional than anything else. This means a style not traditional and not ultra contemporary, but somewhere in between. A home that has antiques, but also has very vivid colored furniture is an example of a transitional home.

Most houses have a little of both. This makes abstract wall decor the perfect choice! You can have the best of both worlds. The antique chest that was in your great grandmothers bedroom, that funky couch you found at the vintage shop, and a nice piece of abstract wall decor bringing all the things you love together.

The most important thing for you to do as the buyer of artwork is to look and find the things that appeal to you. That is the first step for any selection process. Don’t get bogged down in color schemes or home types. Find some wall art with textures and styles that you love.

You will probably find that wall decor is virtually so inexpensive that you can purchase several pieces and place all the ones that you truly love in your home. The great thing is that if you decide you don’t like one that you thought you would, it hasn’t been such an expense to you and you can purchase another one you think that you will like better.

Another really great thing about abstract wall decor is that it creates a unique conversation point for people who are visiting your home. People are always curious, because it captures the eye and draws people into conversation about things like where you purchased the artwork, how you decided on that piece, and why.

Wall art and decor is now so accessible you will have an easy time finding, selecting and purchasing artwork for you walls. The best thing is you won’t have a hard time doing any of those things and you can get years of enjoyment out of your purchase.

One Response to “Abstract Wall Decor is Not just for Contemporary Settings”

One of the main points of this article is spot on. That is, mixing modern abstract art with older things, such as antiques, can work very well. I live in Venice, Italy, which is a perfect example. Venice itself is a city of antiquity, with few buildings dating after the 18th century, and most from the 12th to the 17th century.

Against this background is a a lively market for modern and abstract art. Some of the best venues for displaying abstract art are in old buildings with brick walls and late medieval or renaissance architecture.

Most of you will not have things that old, but idea is the same. Abstract art can add a huge amount of interest and color to a room, even if there are antiques and oriental rugs in the same room.

Original art can also be quite affordable, as there are many artists who are very good at it, but are keen to make a sale.

The last word is that abstract art is timeless. It is less likely to become dated, as would art making a political statement, and one should never grow tired of looking at a good piece.

  • Monetizing Past Clients
Some freelance designers are of the opinion that the 80:20 rule applies to a freelancer’s business. They reckon that 20% of our income comes from 80% of our clients and 80% of our income comes from 20% of clients. I happen to agree with this, for the most part. In my own experience I have found [...] Related posts:Your work has been rejected. Are you faili […]
